Together we will climb this tree of life. We will “band together”, as Nina Simone, once used in a statement, during a performance, when addressing an audience of college students.
Together we will climb up and not look back because it is imperative and necessary that the good people that walk through this planet victor and conquer that which is unjust and evil. Our human evolution and existential is intertwined in this, you see.
We are living through those historical times we have only known by reading about them in classroom and documented books. We have become that etching part of history for the coming generations. They will know that we suffered terribly during our current Covid-19 pandemic.
Yet more important, they will know that even so, we stood up in a global effort to raise hell on injustice and mal-treatment of the “other” and they will know that in this time of 2020 when the pressure was on so many levels, we clasped hand over hand and decided we are going to conquer all of this together. We will conquer Covid. We will conquer racism and injustice. Together we will.
